Here is an excellent example of a timepiece from c.1907. It is an Elgin 18s pocket watch, large sized approx. 54mm across. This piece sits so comfortably in your hand.
The double-sunk porcelain dial with its bold black numerals, sub seconds dial & blued steel hands just speak volumes of styling from a by gone era...all protected by the original glass crystal.
The sturdy case is 10kt gold filled, very nicely seasoned with brassing along the edges. It conveys hours & years of service with the multiple service marks located inside the back.
Multiple Service Marks = Well Maintained
It has all been ultrasonically cleaned and a new 10'' chain attached for safety. Sweet!!
The 18size Elgin Movement has been totally rebuilt and is running stronger than ever...very accurate too!
I completely disassembled it...and when I say that I mean the mainspring removed from the barrel, cap jewels removed, hairspring & balance cleaned...all of my pieces are done this way. It was lubed with fine Swiss synthetic oils & greases. They all receive the works as they should.
